Dr. Wellensiek was born and raised in Nebraska, but after living and practicing in Colorado for 20 years, is well versed in the environmental challenges for ocular comfort and vision that comes with living in the front range.
After completing her Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Optometry at Indiana University in Bloomington, Dr. Wellensiek has gained years of experience in all aspects of medical optometry, such as the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and the co-management of cataract surgery and refractive surgery (Lasik and PRK). She has a special interest in the treatment of dry eye disease and has a comprehensive approach to providing relief for those that suffer from dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction. Dr Wellensiek also provides primary eye care and prescribes glasses and contact lenses (both routine and specialty designs such as scleral lenses, hybrid lenses and rigid gas permeable lenses).
